সর্বপ্রথম ১৮০৮ সালে বাংলা ভাষায় কুরআন শরীফের আংশিক অনুবাদ করেন মাওলানা আমীরুদ্দীন বসুনিয়া। এরপর বাংলা ভাষায় কুরআন শরীফের পূর্ণাঙ্গ অনুবাদ করেন মৌলভী নাঈমুদ্দীন ১৮৩৬ সালে। গিরিশ চন্দ্র সেন শুধু উক্ত অনুবাদকে পুস্তক আকারে সন্নিবেশ করেছেন, গিরিশ চন্দ্র হচ্ছেন প্রকাশক। তাও অনেক পরে, ১৮৮৬ সালে।
