A total of 21 Bangladeshi nationals came back to the country on Sunday after serving jail terms in prisons of India.
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and Assam Police handed over the Bangladeshi nationals to members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at No Man’s Land along Sheula land port in Bianibazar upazila around 4:30 pm.
Fifteen of the returnees have been handed over to their family members while the rest six are now under police custody, said Oboni Shanker, officer-in-charge of Beanibazar Police Station.
BGB sources said all the arrestees, hailing from different parts of the country, were detained by law enforcers of India from separate places and awarded different jail sentence.
After completion of their jail term, the Indian government took necessary steps to send them back to the country.
