BNP forms human chain protesting 11th parliament’s maiden session


The BNP formed a human chain in the capital on Wednesday protesting the start of the maiden session of the 11th parliament.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was among the leaders in the human chain which was formed around 10:30am in front of the Jatiya Press Club, 30 minutes before the scheduled time, and ended around 11:56 am.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain addressed the programme.
The BNP leaders and activists chanted slogans demanding reelection of 11th national polls held on December 30 last.
The BNP also demanded the release of their chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.
Meanwhile, a huge number of law enforcers were deployed around the Jatiya Press Club to fend off any trouble centering the human chain.
Earlier on Tuesday, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
The maiden session of the 11th parliament will begin at 3 pm on Wednesday, within 31 days of the national election held on December 30 with the participation of all the registered political parties.
