United Nations on Tuesday urged all political parties in Bangladesh to maintain a peaceful post-election atmosphere in the country.
The spokesperson of United Nations’ secretary general’s office made the statement.
“The UN is aware of violent incidents and reports of irregularities in Bangladesh’s election,” the global organisation said.
“We regret the loss of life and injuries sustained by candidates and voters during the electoral campaign and on election-day,” the spokesperson said.
“We call on all sides to exercise restraint and ensure a peaceful post electoral environment, where people can maintain their right to assembly and expression,” the spokesperson said lauding the participation of all parties in the polls.
The spokesperson also urged all the parties to avoid violence and address electoral complaints in a peaceful manner and through legal means.
