Gonoforum President Dr Kamal Hossain on Saturday said their party is thinking positively for sending its two newly elected MPs to the 11th Parliament, reports news agency UNB.
“We’ve rejected the election, but the way our two candidates came out successful in such an election through competition is their big achievement. So, we’re thinking positively about sending them to Parliament,” said Dr Kamal, also the leader of Jatiya Oikyafront at a press conference at Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad after an extended meeting of the party.
He thinks that it will not create any problem with its alliance partner BNP if their two elected MPs join parliament though BNP has already decided not to join it.
He, however, said the Jatiya Oikyafront will remain intact to create pressure on the government.
Replying to a question, the Gano Forum president said they may move the court over the election if they get the evidence of serious allegation of vote frauds.
বিএনপি শপথ না নেওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিলেও গণফোরাম থেকে বিজয়ী দু’জন এমপি হিসেবে শপথ নিচ্ছেন বলে ইঙ্গিত দিয়েছেন জাতীয় ঐক্যফ্রন্টের শীর্ষ নেতা কামাল হোসেন।
শনিবার গণফোরামের এক বৈঠকের পর রাজধানীর তোপখানার শিশুকল্যাণ পরিষদের মিলনায়তনে সংবাদ সম্মেলনে তিনি এ ইঙ্গিত দেন।
এ সময় সাংবাদিকদের প্রশ্নে ড. কামাল জানান, তারা বিষয়টি ‘ইতিবাচক’ দৃষ্টিতে দেখছেন এবং ‘ইতিবাচক’ সিদ্ধান্ত নেবেন।
বিএনপি যেহেতু শপথ না নেয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে এবং তাদের প্রতীকে ভোট করে গণফোরাম সদস্য শপথ নিলে তা দুই দলের মধ্যে অনৈক্য সৃষ্টি করবে কি না- এমন প্রশ্নের জবাবে ড. কামাল বলেন, আমার মনে হয় না।
গণফোরাম থেকে জাতীয় ঐক্যফ্রন্টের প্রার্থী হিসেবে ধানের শীষ প্রতীক নিয়ে মৌলভীবাজার-২ আসনে জয়ী হয়েছেন সাবেক আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা ও ডাকসু ভিপি সুলতান মোহাম্মদ মনসুর।
সিলেট-২ আসনে ঐক্যফ্রন্ট প্রার্থী হিসেবে জয়ী গণফোরামের মুকাব্বির খান দলীয় প্রতীক উদীয়মান সূর্য নিয়ে ভোট করেন।
