New ministers keen to face challenges


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her third consecutive term, surprised the countrymen by making a cabinet of 47 with 27 new faces.
The political analysts think that the new ministers have big challenges to face in the days to come as people expect more from the new ones.
After their oath taking ceremony at the Bangabhaban, the first timers spoke to reporters about what they expect to achieve.
Deputy Minister for education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury Nowfel told reporters that he does not take his role of minister as reward.
“Rather I’m considering it as a responsibility in which I’ll invest my all,” said Nowfel, also son of late Awami League leader ABM Mohuddin Chowdhury.
He also thinks that it will be interesting to work with new education minister Dr Dipu Moni as she is ‘highly experienced’.
Newly employed Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said his work is to implement the promises the prime minister has made to the nation. “I’ll carry out my role with sincerity,” said the new minister.
State minister of shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury told reporters that he will do his best to carry out his duties to uphold the prestige of the shipping ministry.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque said it is his responsibility to make health services within everyone’s reach.
“I plan to quickly finish our old works and move ahead with implementing new projects,” said the minister who earlier worked as the state minister of the same minister.
