The High Commission of India is going to open six new Indian Visa Application Centres (IVACs) in six districts of the country.
Of them, the IVACs located in Thakurgaon and Bogura will go on service from 12th January 2019 while the four others, in Cumilla, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria and Satkhira, will start operation on 6th January 2019, said a press release issued by the High Commission on Wednesday.
“These new IVACs are being opened to further serve the needs and facilitate access of Indian visas to Bangladesh nationals, residing in far-flung and remote areas of Bangladesh,” the release said.
According to the release, there are 9 fully functional IVACs in different parts of Bangladesh. The opening of these 6 new IVACs will increase the total number of IVACs to 15.
“The opening of more Indian Visa Application Centres across Bangladesh and the provision of amenities, reflect the continuing efforts of the High Commission of India, in collaboration with its outsourced partner, the State Bank of India, to further streamline the Indian visa application process and strengthen people-to-people contacts between India and Bangladesh,” it added.
