District Returning Officer has announced the cancellation of nomination papers of seven parliamentary seats in Jhalakathi for the eleventh parliamentary elections. The remaining 14 candidates got recognition as the candidate. A total of 21 candidates submitted nomination papers in two constituencies in the district.
Six of the 14 candidates in Jhalokati-1 constituency and one in Jhalakati-2 constituency will be canceled. However, none of the participants, including the Havi weight, were dropped.
Those nominated for nomination are Jhalakathi-1 constituency. Moniruzzaman, Faizul Haque, Muhammad Shahjalal Shamim, Yasmin Akhter Poppy, Md. Delwar Hossain and Nazrul Islam. All of them submitted nomination papers as independent candidates. However, former editors of the deputy's sub-committee are excluded. Moniruzzaman has not been nominated by the party, his supporters have been holding protests in Jhalokati-1 constituency. On the other hand, Jahan Shah Kabir's nomination papers were canceled in the Jhalakati-2 constituency.
Jhalokati Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer from 10am to 1pm. Hamidul Haque selected the nomination papers in his hall.
Meanwhile, party candidates and their leaders and activists were also present. Due to lack of necessary documents and due to various flaws, the nomination papers of 7 candidates were canceled, said district return officer.
The valid 14 candidates are, Awami League's Bazlul Haq Harun, BNP's Barrister Shahjahan Omar and Jhalakati-1 seats. Rafiqul Islam Jamal, MA Quddus Khan - Jatiya Party - Ershad, Allama Nurul Huda Faizi - (Islamic Movement Bangladesh), Prabir Kumar Mitra (NPP), Comrade Abul Hossain - (Worker Party) and Md. Rubel Howlader- (Jatiya Party-Manju)
Awami League candidate Amir Hossain Amu, BNP's Sultana Eelen Bhutto and Ziba Amina Khan, MA Quddus Khan (Jatiya Party-Ershad), Mufti Maulana Fayzul Karim - (Islamic Movement Bangladesh) and Jahangir Hossain Khan - (NPP) .
