BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Wednesday that his party and alliance’s stay in the election race depends on the activities of the Election Commission.
“The EC has been biased till now. If the commission wants, it can still create the atmosphere of a fair election,” the BNP leader told reporters in front of his Uttara residence before heading for Bogura and Rangpur for electioneering.
He alleged that the election has become questionable and the role of the EC is not satisfactory.
“BNP and its alliance partners had hoped that after army deployment the overall atmosphere would be improved
and the election atmosphere would return but that has not happened,” Fakhrul said.

He said that the way the violence is being carried out and the opposition campaigns are being buried proves that there is not congenial atmosphere for election.
