Oikyafront leaders walk out of EC meeting


The Jatiya Oikyafront leaders on Tuesday walked out of a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner due to the CEC’s ‘inappropriate behavior’.
“His behavior was inappropriate,” BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters after emerging out of the EC headquarters in the city’s Agargaon area.
Besides, BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said the CEC did not care about their demand and allegations.
“When we began to complain about police’s role, he took on their side,” said the BNP senior leader.
Before walking out of the EC meeting, the alliance leaders discussed different issues, including the Oikyafront’s demand of holding a rally in Dhaka on December 28, with CEC KM Nurul Huda for alomost two hours.
The meeting began around 12noon and ended without bearing a fruit around 2:00pm.
Jatiya Oikyafront chief Dr Kamal Hossain led the alliance delegation which included BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Gonoshasthya Kendra founder Zafrullah Chowdhury, BNP leaders Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and Mirza Abbas.
