Salman F Rahman, adviser to AL president, now has a contender from BNP at Dhaka-1 constituency as Khondokar Abu Ashfaque got back his candidacy after appeal.
Salma Islam of Jatiya Party, a running MP from the seat, is also contesting for the constituency as an independent candidate after AL-led grand alliance nominated Salman.
Salman is a top businessman owning Beximco Group while Salma is the wife of another top businessman Nurul Islam Babul of Jamuna Group.
Ashfaque's nomination paper was rejected by the returning officer during scrutiny on December 2 on the ground that he had not resigned from the post of chairman of upazila parishad.
However, the Election Commission today declared his nomination paper valid.
